Things to do in Rabat
Capital calm — ocean light, walled kasbahs, and leafy avenues. These are the Rabat experiences locals actually recommend — sorted by category so you can plan your day in one glance.
Casablanca's landmarks tell two distinct stories. The first is early-20th-century French colonial urbanism: Boulevard Mohammed V is one of the finest concentrations of Art Deco and Mauresque architecture outside Europe, built during the Protectorate (1912–1956) by architects including Henri Prost. The second story is contemporary Moroccan ambition: the Hassan II Mosque (1993), designed by Michel Pinseau, rises 200 metres above the Atlantic on a platform partially built over the sea and remains the second-tallest religious structure in the world. Between them sits the Habous quarter, an early-20th-century planned new medina, and the Cathedral Sacré-Cœur (1930), now a cultural exhibition space. This page lists the attractions we have personally visited, with verified opening hours and practical tips.
